If you are a victim of domestic violence or you think you are in danger of becoming a victim of domestic violence, you may ask the court for a protective order called an “injunction,” prohibiting domestic violence. If the court grants the injunction, it will provide relief that the court deems to be proper in addition to preventing the respondent from having contact with you, which may include temporary exclusive use of the home and/or child support. The court may order the respondent to attend a batterer’s intervention program or an anger management program.
