On Tuesday April 20th, 2021, Judge Nicole Menz held the eighteenth Mental Health Court graduation ceremony at the Indian River County Courthouse.
The Indian River County Mental Health Court was implemented in January 2015 as a community-based program that provides court supervision and services to individuals struggling with a mental health disorder. Fifteen graduates were recognized and celebrated for their successful completion of the program. Both graduates and their family members expressed how the program has improved each of their lives and thanked the staff. The team of employees who support the efforts are court case managers, therapists and community service providers.
Special guests included Public Defender Diamond Litty, Martin County Judge Jennifer Waters, Sheriff Eric Flowers, Vero Beach Police Chief David Curry, Fellsmere Chief of Police Keith Touchberry, Sebastian Police Department Chief Dan Acosta, and Deputy Chief Mark Shaw from the Indian River Shores Public Safety Department. Max Pierre, a client from the Martin County Mental Health Court, entertained the guests and graduates with an inspirational song he had written about his participation in the program.
Congratulations to the graduates!
