The honorable Judge Jeffrey Hendriks had a chance to meet with the students where he provided an overview of the rules of law and courtroom procedures and let the students through an interactive mock trial. The presentation included an explanation of how witnesses, defendants, counsel and prosecutors participate in a trial, the process of direct and cross-examination, and the distinction between open-ended and leading questions. Students actively engaged in role-playing various courtroom roles, including deputies, state attorneys, defense counsel, jurors, defendants and witnesses.

The visit concluded with an explanation of the sentencing process, offering students a comprehensive educational introduction to the judicial system.
