Staff Attorneys

The staff attorneys are members of the Florida Bar who review, research and analyze substantive legal matters (pleadings, motions) in active cases, and who draft memoranda, signature-ready orders and opinions.  The staff attorneys’ duties include, but are not limited to, comprehensive handling of all felony post-conviction relief motions, capital cases, extraordinary relief petitions and civil suits filed by prisoners; processing of appeals (and petitions for certiorari review) from county court and other lower tribunals; and research and analysis of matters before the Unified Family Court.  The staff attorneys also are available to assist the circuit judges with immediate research and legal analysis of issues and to advise them accordingly.  The staff attorneys are knowledgeable of legal principles, statutory and case law, court rules and local procedures in the four counties of the circuit and exercise professional judgment and discretion with regard to their assignments.
