Court interpreting services are provided to: criminal divisions in the Circuit Court and County Courts, Juvenile Courts (including the parents of the minor), Child Support hearings, domestic/repeat/sexual/dating violence injunction cases and Mental Health hearings throughout the 19th Judicial Circuit. State certified, duly qualified and Court experienced (best available) foreign language interpreters are provided for those parties and witnesses that have a limited English proficiency during their court proceedings in the cases listed above. Sign language interpreters are provided by the courts for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. All request for interpreters for court proceedings are scheduled through Court Administration.
The court pays the cost of interpreters for indigent parties with state funds. If you are not indigent, the Trial Court Administrator is required by law to recover interpreter costs on behalf of the state. If you are found to have the ability to pay, you will be billed after your hearing for the costs of the service provided.
