The Judicial Assistant does not track UMC hearings. As a result, we ask that you please NOT call the Judge's office to check if your case has been set on or removed from a UMC docket.
NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC: The Code of Judicial Conduct governing behavior by judges forbids Judge Cox from discussing court cases or legal issues with the public. Please do not call expecting to speak with Judge Cox about any case or for procedural or legal instruction. If you have a comment to make or a request for relief (which must be in motion form), please mail it to the Clerk's Office at 2000 – 16th Avenue, Vero Beach, Florida 32960. However, the Court is only allowed to consider arguments made in the courtroom and in documents properly filed by actual parties in the case as authorized by law and the Rules of Court. The Court cannot ethically read or consider any other opinions or arguments about a case. Communications that do not meet these legal requirements cannot be forwarded to the Judge.
Please note that this office does not accept ex-parte e-mails. Copies of all e-mails sent to this office also must be sent to all opposing counsel/parties in the case. All proposed Orders must be emailed in Word format at least 5 days prior to your hearing with the style & date of hearing in the SUBJECT LINE and all known email addresses for service. Courtcall must be arranged at least 5 business days in advance or your attorney must appear in person. No residential foreclosure cases may appear by phone!
All Motion for Summary Judgment packages must be sent to Court Administration at 250 NW Country Club Drive Port St Lucie FL 34986 at least 10 business days prior to the scheduled hearing. Please review our Residential Foreclosure procedures for complete MSJ package requirements.
RESIDENTIAL FORECLOSURE CASES: PLEASE NOTE AFTER June 24, 2011 ALL APPEARANCES MUST BE IN PERSON. At this time there are NO CourtCall appearances. RESIDENTIAL FORECLOSURE MOTIONS MAY NOT BE SET ON UMC.
Procedure to schedule special set hearings is as follows:
- Log on to https://slccjis.stlucieco.gov/attorney_calendar You must register to obtain your user id and password on the site;
- Click on case Scheduling;
- Enter County, Judge Cox’s name, month & year in drop down fields;
- Hit Available Hearing Time: View button and a screen will opening showing all available hearing times;
- You need to look for available dates/time under motions hearing.
You need to view available dates, coordinate with opposing counsel/parties and up to 30 minutes, schedule online. If over 30 minutes, e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org the date/time agreed upon, motion to be heard, name of attorney and how much time is set for the hearing. All motions and notices, together with envelopes must be provided, as well as an email with the proposed Order in word format with the subject: style & date of hearing at least FIVE days prior to the hearing. Failure to comply with our procedures will cancel your hearing!
